Shi Zao Tang (Ten-Dates Decoction)
Chinese Name: Shi Zao Tang
English Name: Ten-Dates Decoction
Ingredients: Yuan Hua (Flos Genkwa, decocted), Da Zao (Jujubae, ten pcs), Gan Sui (Radix Enphorbiae Kansui) and Da Ji (Radix Knoxiae) in wqual amount.
Administration: Grind the three ingredients in equal amount into powder, or put the powder into capsules, take 0.5to 1g each time, once a day in the early morning before breakfast on empty stomach with decoction of ten Chinese dates. If the stool is scanty, increase the dosdage accordinly until defecation gets smooth. Then cook gruel for self health rehabilitation.
Actions: Expels retained fluid.
Indications:(1)bypochodriac fluid retention marked by pain of the chest and hypochondrium when the patient coughs and spits, epigastric hard fullness, retching, short breath , headache with halo, diffcult respiration due to pain in the chest and back, slippery tongue coating, deep and taut pulse.
(2)Edema manifest as generlized edema, especially edema of the lower half of the body. abdomonal distension, adthma, fullness, difficulty in urnation and defecation.
